Mechanical Engineer - Pipeline Development Program

Job overview:

During this program you will be introduced to many of the relevant business processes and different functional areas of our company. You will be challenged to demonstrate your abilities in mechanical engineering or related analytical and technical subjects.

You will handle projects under the guidance of a mentor, designated to your specific assignment. You will gain insight into local and global businesses while being involved in daily operations as well. Continued on the job training will enhance your professional and personal development.

The program is divided into 3-4 assignments of 6-8 months each, lasting approximately 24 months. After successful completion of the program, you will have the opportunity to continue to grow into a challenging role.

Job responsibilities:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for Mechanical and Engineering Support. The mechanical engineer will be responsible for delivering productivity and driving reduction of equipment failures to ensure process an equipment reliability meets production requirements. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

• Daily activities of assigned programs and projects;
• Strict adherence to Environmental, Safety and Health requirements and completion of assigned tasks;
• Plant support, including working closely with hourly and salaried personnel in both maintenance and operations;
• Demonstrate a strong customer focus with a clear understanding of rotating equipment, heat exchangers, condensers, piping systems, and material properties;
• Lead or contribute to cross functional teams and diverse project teams;
• Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials;
• Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties;
• Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing, assembly methods and materials; involves stakeholders as needed;
• Assists in coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions nd established procedures; requesting special services.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering;
• Minimum Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering;
• Must be in good academic standing;
• Between 0 and 2 years of working experience in the chemical industry;
• Must be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC).

Preferred qualifications:

Additional technical skills:

• Analytical problem solving (Root Cause Analysis);
• Knowledge of process simulation techniques;
• Knowledge of producing reactor / plant concept on basis of reaction mechanism, reaction kinetics, mass/heat transfer limitations;
• Knowledge of control / corrosion material / process engineering;
• Knowledge of Process Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety Administration Standards, Layers of Protection Analysis, and quality improvement tools such as Six Sigma;
• Knowledge of on/off-line analytical measurement techniques;
• Must be able to analyze data and make recommendations based on analysis;
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people of different cultures and functions;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills Leadership potential.
