Thales Corporate Engineering Netherlands (TCE-NL) is part of the Information Systems Department (ISD). Within the Netherlands, we act as the point of contact for all IT solutions required by the engineering disciplines within the business units at Thales. The team consists of system, software and IT architects, application and infrastructure specialists with ages ranging from 25 to 60.
Influenced heavily by LEAN, DevOps and continuous delivery methodologies, we strive to deliver efficient tooling and processes to drive competiveness across the full product lifecycle. We gather requirements, test them against security procedures, design solutions and implement them with the end-user and other ISD teams. We're self-organizing, manage our own projects and are involved with the latest IT developments within the Thales group.

About the job

As a (Junior) System Engineer in the TCE-NL team, you fill the gap between the traditional IT department and the system engineers in the business. You support and help the system engineers with their daily work problems, to become more efficient and more effective. For this you have an Engineering Environment toolbox at your disposable that contains all the modern and state-of-art tooling that are used in systems engineering.
Your daily task consists of talks with system engineers to understand their daily problems and translate these into an advise how the Engineering Environment tools can support them with these problems. You also set-up a proof of concept for the system engineers so they can get confidence that the tooling will indeed support and solve one or more of their daily problems.

• Be responsible with the TCE-NL team for the full engineering tooling range in the disciplines of software engineering, system engineering, customer services engineering and test engineering
• Set up, maintain and improve the wide variety of complex, open-source based engineering environments (from architecture to implementation) used at Thales Netherlands
• Translate wishes of engineers at the business units into efficient engineering environment solutions
• Play an active role in bringing engineering at the business units in Thales Netherlands to a higher level

About you

• Bachelor (HBO) or Master (WO) degree in a relevant area
• Able to act on equal level as SW architects and system engineers at the business units
• Able to make clear the needs of the engineers and able to transfer them into efficient solutions
• Experience in several engineering disciplines (e.g. SW continuous integration, requirements engineering, system engineering, test engineering)
• Preferably experience with SW and system modeling
• Fluent in Dutch and English (both written and verbal)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible team player who has good communicative skills and is able to connect different disciplines.

This job is particular interesting for engineers who want to deepen their knowledge of engineering tools, e.g. in order to grow towards a position of software or system architect.
