Are you passionate about innovation? Become a TNO trainee!

To become a trainee at our company you have actively developed yourself during your studies on both a personal and academical level. We aim for a multidisciplinary trainee team and are therefore looking for recent university graduates with a master’s degree or PhD in one of the fields mentioned below. We are looking for highly motivated and enterprising trainees who want to invest in their personal development and career.

At our company you are the director of your own career and you will continue to develop rapidly. During your traineeship, we will challenge you to push your boundaries by making career moves outside your comfort zone, by doing courses and workshops, and by peer reviews and coaching. In two years’ time, you will enhance your expertise and competencies extensively and will gain a broad understanding of our organisation.

Your impact

During the two-year trainee programme you will work three continuous periods of 8 months in various departments and at several TNO locations. The roles you take on can range from researcher or project leader to consultant or business developer.

Working at TNO is all about innovation and collaboration. Connecting people and knowledge is key. We contribute to society by using applied scientific knowledge to create solutions with impact. As a trainee you will be part of multidisciplinary project teams and work on challenging assignments for industry and governments. With your unique expertise and experience you will contribute to finding solutions for highly relevant societal issues at national and international level.

About TNO

TNO concentrates on seven closely related themes, each of which has a prominent place in the national and European innovation agenda. These themes are: Industrial innovation, Healthy living, Energy, Mobility, Built environment, Information society, Defence, Safety and Security. Within the Expertise Areas: Technical Sciences and Earth, Life and Social Sciences various interesting fields of expertise are working together in Research Groups on these themes. The traineeship offers you the unique possibility to explore the expertise areas as well as the themes if you are up for the challenge.

Competencies

You are a recent university graduate with a Master’s degree or a PhD in one of the following special fields:

• Aerospace engineering
• Applied physics
• Chemistry (process technology)
• Control engineering
• Electrical engineering
• Econometrics
• Geoscience
• Mathematics
• Mechanical engineering

Your CV and your motivation for TNO and the traineeship stand out. You have less than two years of work experience. You are ambitious, socially driven and want to enhance your potential in a renowned research organisation such as TNO. You are, by nature, enterprising, flexible and a good team player, you have good communications skills and are creative and innovative.

Selection procedure

If you pass the selection on the basis of your CV, letter and motivation, you will be invited to attend the TNO Trainee Selection Day, which will take place on November 8, 2013. We will notify you about this by October 31st at the latest.

During the Selection Day, you will learn more about TNO and our Traineeship and we will get to know you better. Please note in advance that English will be the chosen language during this day.

If you are among the best applicants at this selection day, we will be pleased to invite you to an assessment at a psychological consultancy firm.

Selected candidates will receive a contract proposal for the start date of February 2014 in December.
